We were so excited for this month's theme of shelves!
We knew exactly what we wanted to do
when we saw these cute wall mounted night stands from
Martha Stewart's Living Magazine, September issue.Martha Stewart magazine ( Huset-Shop) Wall mounted nightstand
You can purchase these lovelies for $121 buckaroos from the Huset-Shop.com
or you can make them like us for $5 a piece.
Are you tempted yet?
We started with 3/4" MDF boards that we had
Home Depot trim down into 8" lengths.
We had 5 boards that we cut to length but you could also buy the 6 or 8" wall trim
that is already primed to use too.
Here are the board sizes you'll need:
1 at 12" for the bottom2 at 8 1/4" with a 31 1/2 degree miter on one end
2 at 8 1/4" with identical miter cuts @ 31 1/2 degree cuts on both ends
We used some left over 1/4" MDF to create the house shape for the back
but you can also use chip board or
our suggestion is to cut a thicker piece of MDF to help anchor all the pieces together.
Once we got all our pieces cut
we wood glued (we love Gorilla Glue!)
and used finishing nails to tack them together.
We then sanded and painted it white.
We backed the back of the shelf with a 12 x 12" sheet of scrapbook paper
and then hung with 2 "D" rings fastened to the back.
We love all the options you can do with different paper designs
so you can totally personalize this!
a glass of water and a book marker for your favorite book.
Maybe the kids will be more inspired to read....what do you think?
Well, a mom can dream right?
Thanks for great inspiration gals!
We are so excited for next month!
We are hosting the project and it's going to be
a fun and easy Halloween project!!!
