July 2011 Project....Bird House

Hey fellow crafters!  It's Melinda from over at Under My Umbrella.   It's my turn to host the WYLTC and I'm like a little jumpin' bean.  Yes, that means I'm just a little excited!   Have you all seen the crazy adorable bird house decor online lately?!  Um...I'm in love with them!    I have decided I need to make a few and then is no better place to do it then here!  Check out my project....

On July 4th I will walk you on a step by step tutorial project over at my blog,

There will be lot's of pictures and even a pattern to make life easy.  Be sure to check back there all week for the other projects created by the WYLTC wonder women.  They really are some fabulous gals!  Finally check back here Friday for the link-up party.  The link will remain open for one week and then the "Top Cut" will be announced.

A few changes have been made this past month.  You can either post a knock-off of mine or your own creation using this month's theme: Birds.  I'm counting on all you crafty ladies....I want to put a nest and some eggs in a glass bowl I have.  Link up a tutorial :)

Kits to create my bird house are available for purchase.  They will be $13.00 each and include all materials minus the paint and ink.  There is a limited number available so email (beachellfamily02@hotmail.com) me if you would like one!

WARNING:  Birds can't actually live in this house.  Yes, I'm a dork and think this warning is funny :)

The theme this month was lanterns and stars and that's just what we got...

Check out this super cute door hanger submitted by

This fun Star Candle holder all dressed up and pretty shared by

I love this fantastic set of Flag Blocks! So patriotically perfect!
These were created by the talented

Same flag-completely different idea!
RUFFLES! I know right, so cute and such a fun way to incorporate fabric into the design.
The smarty behind this great piece is
4th of july Stars and Stripes

So excited to see another lantern, and this one too is different from all 4 of our knock off projects!
Not only is it SOLAR  but the sides are filled in with paper.

They were shared by

And that leaves only one, the TOP PICK for JUNE 2011....

Wow! What a great week it's been!
I cannot tell you how much I love this group. It is so much fun to see what each of these amazing women come up, it never fails to impress and inspire me.

But, it also leads me into the next week which brings all of you sharing all of your creativeness! I am so, SOOOO excited to see your different takes on my little star lantern project.
I'm just happy excited for this party to take place...

But First a quick recap of this week's AWESOME-NESS!!!
We started here with the "idea piece"

Krystal ran with it and created a beautiful etched glass lantern...

...seriously LOVIN' the glass!

Candace was up next, batting solo but still coming out with a winner...

...love the black! And how she did the lid-super smart, that girl!

Melinda closed out the week with a stunner...

...that girl and her burlap! Just beautiful!

So did we get your wheels turning?
Did you go with another take on the lantern?
Or with the impending July 4th holiday, were the stars your choice?
We're dying to see!!!

Making some changes!

Hello everyone!  We sure hope you have enjoyed Wood you like to craft? as much as we have!  It is such a blast seeing what everyone comes up with each month.  However, we are hoping to encourage more participation so we are going to make a few changes.

First up, we are going to start using this blog for updates!  We will post here at the beginning of each month letting you know where Wood you like to craft? is going to be next.  Hope this helps!

Next, the link party each month will also be HERE on this blog.  We are hoping that having the link party in the same place each month will help eliminate any confusion.

And finally, while we still plan on knocking off each others projects (because we think its fun) we are going to broaden the category so that more people can link up their ideas and we can have a bigger database of great wood crafts.  For example, this month the Wood you like to craft? team is going to knock-off Wendy's cute lantern, but we invite you to link up either a lantern or a star related wood project.

So that's it!  Hopefully these changes will make things a little easier to follow and will allow more people to participate in this fun group.

Remember, this month's event starts Monday at Craft Goodies.  More info to come!
